Our Services

  • Camino Luggage Transfer services

Walking or cycling along the Camino de Santiago/the way of Saint James is a great experience but, what about your luggage? What can you bring if you have to carry everything on your back? As part of our services we offer a full luggage transfer.

Follow the Camino has the solution for you: our services include luggage transfers. It is always included in our Camino de Santiago Tours. The luggage transfer during your Camino is a great service we include in all our walking, cycling and horse riding holidays.

This allows you to walk or cycle lightly with a day-pack only (bottle of water, rain gear, maps and phone), and enjoy the view without the pain.

How does the Camino Luggage Transfer work?

All you need to do is leave your suitcase labelled with your name at the hotel reception at 8:00am when you are heading off for the Camino. It will be transferred to your next accommodation and waiting for you when you arrive. Yes, it is that easy!

  • Authentic accommodation and local food

How we choose your accommodation: Hotels, casa rurales, guesthouses, pensiones:

Our accommodation is selected based on a number of criteria, including location, comfort, services, price and character. We always try to book accommodation that is both on or near the Camino and also close to the historical quarter or centre of the town/city. This is facilitated by the fact that the Camino usually goes through the heart of each town or city. In larger towns, which are usually at the beginning and end of each section, we book hotels of a 3* standard. In smaller towns/villages/hamlets in between the larger towns, we choose hotels or guesthouses of a 2* standard. However, there could be some exceptions to this rule, for example, in some small villages our services /selection depends on local infrastructure and it may happen that the only possibility is a non-rated guesthouse. This does not mean it is not up to our standards, only that it does not have an official classification, which is usually due to the rural and remote nature of parts of the Camino.

Given the reasons stated above, we do believe that a 2* hotel located in the historical centre is a better choice than a 3* hotel located on the outskirts of the town at a distance from the Camino. If our first choice is not available, we will use other accommodation of the same standard and price. If there is no such accommodation available, we may contact you to offer either an upgrade at a premium or a downgrade with a refund, again based on local infrastructure in each area.

We are determined in our motto: to provide our customers with the best available on the Camino. Each night expect traditional meals or tapas prepared with the best fresh, regional and mouth-watering products. On a Follow the Camino Tour, we reserve a table at the end of each walking day for you and your party at one of our pre-tested and loved restaurants this is all part of our services.

We always give preference to hotels with their own restaurant and chefs so you don’t have to wander too far, and restaurants awarded with a quality label and/or recommended by recognised guidebooks. For your convenience our services cater for all special dietary requirements and allergies. Simply advise us at the time of booking.

  • Certified Camino guides

Our services include certified Camino guides
Some of our tours are guided, depending on customer requirements. We only use the best and most knowledgeable Camino de Santiago guides to send along with our groups.  All our guides are bilingual (English-Spanish), very pleasant and there to enhance your Camino experience.  They know a lot of secret places and might even show you some places of the Way that you would never find by yourself…

Most of our professional Camino tour guides have many years’ experience walking and guiding on the different routes along the Way of St. James.  Some have worked as professional guides internationally and in many other exotic places.  They will have plenty of stories about their adventures to tell you along the way and may even inspire your own next adventure.

It is very common for us to receive letters and emails from happy customers after a Camino trip telling us delighted stories how their wonderful guides.  Here are just some examples of the feedback we get regularly about our Camino tour guides.

Testimonial: “I just wanted to drop a note and let you know what a great experience I had using your company’s services for the Camino de Santiago… The hotels along the route were lovely; the food was great and best of all was our guide, Elaine Jones. She was such a joy to be with. She was so knowledgeable, charming, and knew how to give us our independence on the Camino, while also checking in with us throughout our daily walks… She is a great asset to your company.” Ellen, July 2011

Testimonial: ” We have just returned from the Camino and I must say that both my wife and myself enjoyed the Camino very much. The organisation was excellent, and the group of people who were with us were a very nice and good company. We also liked the accommodation and were quite impressed with the choice of the hotels, especially where cleanliness is concerned. We also thoroughly enjoyed the walk. I must mention how excellent our guide, Noel, was. What a lovely man, always ready to help out. He led the party very efficiently, always with a smile and nothing was a problem for him. He is a great guide. We will certainly recommend your Company to our friends, and maybe we will do the walk again next year. Thanks for everything and best regards, Winston”
