Who will come with us?
The manager and organizer of the specific route are going to lead the way on the lead horses. With an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) carrying your luggage and everything you need, you can rest assured you will have a comfortable trip.

The Horses
The Horses are well suited to the terrain, mostly native breeds. You need not be an expert rider, but some experience in horse riding is advised.

Day 1

Barcelos
(Arrival)

A transfer from Vigo airport at 3pm will take you to Barcelos in the beautiful region of Alto Minho.  After visiting the town you will go to see the horses and visit the remarkable Benedictine convent where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2

Albergaria

Leaving your accommodation after breakfast you will ride over green hills with spectacular views all day.  Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Neiva and Lima valleys.  The day will finish in the village of Albergaria and you will spend the night relaxing in a lovely rura

Day 3

to
Calheiros

Today you will pass through the oldest medieval town of Portugal, Ponte de Lima and cross the Lima River.  Moving closer to the Portuguese border with Spain you will witness the landscape getting hillier and greener.  You are now in the heart of the Mino region.  Tonight you will stop over in Calherios staying in the palace of a Count.

Valenca

Riding across the Sierra de Labruja we will head north for the Portuguese Spanish border.  You will have an opportunity to vist the towns on either side of the Minho river, Valenca on the Portuguese side and Tui on the Spanish side.

Day 5

Ponte Caldelas

Crossing into Spain the journey will continue north toward the Vigo estuary.  Views out to sea will enrapture as well as the green hilly countryside that you will ride through today.  Passing through Arcade, a village famous for its oysters you will arrive into Pontevedra.  This is one of the best preserved cities of Galicia after Santiago de Compostela.  Tonight you will stay in Ponte Caldelas in a rural tourist guesthouse on a farm.

Day 6

Pontecesures

Today the ride will take you up and down over the now familiar landscape of Galicia.  Just pass the hallway point you will cross the Umia river at Caldas de Rei.  Continuing through the hilly landscape we will arrive at our stop for tonight just before they Ulla River at Pontecesures.

Santiago de Compostela (Brion-Los Angeles)

This final day on horseback will initially take you through Padron and then continue through the green countryside ever closer to the final destination.  The horse ride for today will finish in Biron-Los Angeles which is just south-west of Santiago de Compostela.  Here you will enjoy lunch in the cozy and rustic surroundings of Pousada Rosalia.  Around 4pm you will then be transported into Santiago to Obradoiro Square at the Cathedral.  You will then have some free time.  Tonight you have the option to stay in Santiago city or in a rural guest house

Santiago de Compostela (Brion-Los Angeles)

After breakfast, we bid you farewell.
