2021 will be an important year on the Camino de Santiago because it is a Holy Year of Compostela. A Holy Year on the Camino is a year when the feast of St James (25 July) falls on a Sunday. This is cause for celebration because St James is the patron saint of the Camino and pilgrims!
Due to the disruption from COVID-19, the Pope has declared 2022 to also be part of the Xacobeo 2021 celebrations, so you won’t miss out.
Reconnect with your spirituality, or embrace this chance to see a whole new side of the Camino.
There are plenty of options for every pilgrim on the Camino to choose from. There are easier stages and more challenging stages, more populated or less, and you can choose whether to walk through France, Portugal, Spain, or a combination of countries.
Because 2021 and 2022 are Holy Years there will be an increase in people choosing to walk the classic last 100km from Sarria to Santiago on the Camino Frances. There will also be a large collection of festivals, celebrations, and artistic pieces to see.
Which Camino route and stage you walk is entirely up to you, and all of our walking holidays are completely customisable.
