Tick the Camino off your bucket list in 2023!

We at Follow the Camino have been curating customized Camino experiences for thousands of pilgrims since 2006. The Camino de Santiago is much more than a mere ‘holiday’. We have first hand experience on how the Camino has provided unique experiences in some cases – changed lives. Therefore, we feel responsible for spreading the Camino message to all!

With the #CaminoBucketList campaign , we aim to build a community where passionate Camino travelers can learn about it directly from those who have completed the journey. The community will offer a space for committed travelers to share their travel experiences with others!

We urge people to engage and share their top experiences, along with their #CaminoBucketList items – all in hopes that it will ignite the travel tick for everybody. The one thing that we are sure of –  No matter what age you are, where you come from, or what your motivation is, you can walk the Camino.

People travel the Camino for a list of varied reasons!

The Camino de Santiago is a network of pilgrimage routes that lead to the tomb of Saint James in Spain. The routes begin all across Europe and have been walked as pilgrimages for hundreds of years. Each route offers its own wonderful experiences, sights, monuments, and cuisines.

Although the Camino de Santiago has traditionally been a religious pilgrimage, there are many people who choose it as a walking holiday for many different reasons. Some walk the Way for fitness or as a goal to achieve better physical health. Others walk to clear their head, to feel a connection with nature, or for self-development.

Walking for weeks with nothing but a backpack on your shoulders and few companions can be a spiritual and reflective experience.

There is one thing, however, that we will promise you: whatever your reason, you will find something that will last a lifetime – be it an unforgettable memory, friends or even yourself.

We’re striving to build a Camino community!

The #CaminoBucketList campaign is created from you, for you. We have some exciting things planned for you in the coming weeks as a token of our appreciation. We, being part of the travel industry, are well aware of the discouragement that the pandemic has brought to the world of travel. And now that things have returned to a new normal, we want to build our Camino community stronger.

We realise how special the Camino can be, so we often speak to our customers once they complete the journey. We’ve heard some life changing stories and we grew to learn about the positive impact it can have on people! Every experience was unique, and every traveler had a different or ‘Camino Bucket List’ item that they took home with them!

Here’s what one of them had to say about their Camino journey ‘ St Jean to Santiago You can’t fail to emerge uplifted. The Camino delivered on all fronts. A unique physical challenge. Inspiration is that you make friends from the four corners of the planet and are never short of companionship. We never ceased to be awed by the people’s resilience and personal challenges to complete and trade stories that delivered a good laugh and true sense of ease all through the 33 days.’
