Our B-Corporation Certification

We earned our B-Corp certification in September 2023 because of our unwavering commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism. As the only B-Corp certified Camino planner, we set industry benchmarks, inspiring others to follow our lead.

This certification helps us integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations. Achieving a B-Corp score of 89.1 highlights our efforts to push boundaries and strive for excellence in sustainability. Being part of the B-Corp community keeps us structured, united, and purposeful in our journey towards a more sustainable future.

EU Commission Sustainable Consumption Pledge

We joined the EU Commission Sustainable Consumption Pledge to further our commitment to reducing our carbon and environmental footprint. This pledge aligns us with forward-thinking companies like Capgemini, Decathlon, and Philips. Additionally, it allows us to join a network of like-minded companies to collaborate on sustainability efforts, reinforcing our sustainable practices.

Our participation strengthens our initiatives to reduce our clients’ carbon footprints and promotes circularity in our operations. It also emphasizes our dedication to social sustainability across the supply chain.

Leave No Trace Ireland

We have been Bronze members of Leave No Trace Ireland for the last few years now, showcasing our commitment to responsible outdoor practices. We educate our clients about the Leave No Trace policy on all our local training walks in Ireland, furthering this initiative.

This membership aligns with our efforts to reduce our environmental impact and preserve the beauty of the Camino routes for future generations, reinforcing our dedication to sustainable tourism.

United Nations Global Compact

As we have done every year since 2019, we are proud to reaffirm Follow the Camino’s commitment to the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labor Standards, Environment, and Anti-Corruption.

Our 2024 Communication on Progress highlights our continued dedication to integrating these Principles into our business strategy, culture, and daily operations, and to contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Our Certifications

Earthology

At Follow the Camino, we believe that sustainability starts from within. Through our collaboration with Earthology, we have educated our employees on carbon literacy, providing them with the knowledge and tools to reduce their personal carbon emissions.

Most of our employees are now certified with Earthology’s Carbon Literacy Certification. This training empowers our team to incorporate sustainable practices into their everyday lives, furthering our commitment to reducing our overall environmental impact. Our dedication to education and personal responsibility underscores our holistic approach to sustainability.

First Climate and DGB Group

Since 2020, we have been committed to offsetting the carbon emissions from our clients’ trips by purchasing carbon credits through First Climate. Our investments have supported Gold Standard projects in India and Africa, helping to mitigate the environmental impact of our travel services.

This year, we partnered with the DGB Group to further our efforts. We were particularly drawn to their Hongera Energy Efficient Cookstoves Project in Kenya, which aligns perfectly with our values and goals. When presented to our employees, this project received overwhelming support and emerged as the top choice.

UN World Food Programme

At Follow the Camino, we are committed to making a positive impact beyond our business operations. We donate €10 per employee each month to the UN World Food Programme (WFP). This contribution helps support the WFP’s vital work in fighting hunger and providing food assistance to communities in need around the world.

Our monthly donations reflect our dedication to global social responsibility and our belief in supporting initiatives that make a significant difference in people’s lives.
