Find Your Inspiration on the English Way Camino
The English Way Camino is one of the shortest yet most meaningful routes to Santiago. Once traveled by pilgrims arriving from England and Ireland by sea, it carries centuries of history along its coastal paths and Galician countryside. Starting in either Ferrol or A Coruña, the route offers a compact Camino experience filled with charm, tradition, and the joy of walking in the footsteps of medieval pilgrims.
Here you’ll find heartfelt testimonials, inspiring photos, and reflections from those who have walked the English Way Camino. Whether it’s the coastal views, the small stone villages, or the warm welcome of Galicia, this route proves that a shorter journey can still hold the full spirit of the Camino.
‘Our Camino Ingles walk was fantastic – even some wet weather at the start could not dampen our spirits. The Follow the Camino team gave us great advice to structure the trip and everything ran like clockwork. Walking into cathedral square in Santiago to the sound of the Galician pipes was very emotional and we’re already planning our next Camino – probably the Portuguese!’

Getting the Compostela Certificate on the English Way Camino

To receive the Compostela, you must walk at least the final 100 km into Santiago. On the English Way Camino, this means starting in Ferrol, which provides the required distance. From there, the path leads through forests, rolling hills, and lively Galician towns before arriving at Santiago’s Cathedral.
If you begin in A Coruña, the distance is shorter (around 75 km), so it does not meet the minimum for the Compostela unless combined with another certified Camino walk. No matter which starting point you choose, the English Way Camino is a chance to live the Camino spirit in just one week — perfect for those with limited time. Ready to follow the steps of medieval seafaring pilgrims?
