“Follow the Camino” did an excellent job arranging my Camino experience from Leon to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Based on my experience, I give them my highest recommendation. Planning my Camino was easy using their website and the agent assigned to my itinerary. Everything was as promised, which allowed me to focus on putting one foot in front of the other. The character of the accommodations varied nicely to suit the locale, with more luxurious accommodations situated in the larger towns and more spartan rooms in smaller villages. Every establishment was clean, comfortable, and helpfully staffed. The 1930 Boutique Hotel in Arzua deserves special mention for a beautiful dining room, the best dinner on the Camino, and the nicest wait staff at dinner and breakfast. In Portomarin, the front desk at Hotel Ferramenteiro proactively called to get my luggage brought forward when it was inadvertently not picked up in the morning from my hotel in Sarria. At 68, even with six months of training, this was a physically demanding adventure. I am grateful to Follow the Camino and the establishments in which they put their trust for helping me achieve my long-desired goal of being able to call myself a pilgrim that made it to Santiago de Compostela. Buen Camino!’

Getting the Compostela Certificate

One of the most meaningful moments for many pilgrims is arriving in Santiago and collecting the Compostela — the official certificate of completion of the Camino de Santiago. To be eligible, you need to walk at least the last 100 km of the French Way, starting from Sarria. This stretch combines charming villages, rolling Galician countryside, and the warm spirit of fellow pilgrims, all leading to the grand arrival at Santiago’s Cathedral.
Completing this final section allows you not only to earn the Compostela but also to experience the essence of the Camino — connection, reflection, and achievement. Many pilgrims say the last 100 km of the French Way is the perfect balance of beauty and community. Ready to make your own pilgrimage?
