How do we select your Camino accommodation?

We have been organising unforgettable walking and cycling tours on the main Camino routes since 2006 so we have a close relationship with our providers. We handpick all of the accommodation businesses that we use based on a number of different criteria.

We evaluate the options based on location, comfort, services, character, price, and the reviews of past guests, among other things.

Location of the Accommodation

We always try to book accommodation that is on or as near as possible to the Camino routes. Another factor is if it’s close to the historical quarter or centre of the town/city.

Usually, you will arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon. This allows you time to explore any interesting landmarks near your accommodation on the Camino.

Comfort and Service Level

We always aim for an excellent level of service and comfort in our accommodation providers. Usually, we try to book hotels with at least 3 stars. However, in some cases, smaller towns will not have this option available. In some places, we may also offer you a quaint bed and breakfast, or a building with loads of character that might not officially have the stars but that we know is lovely.

That being said, we do also offer hostel or albergue level accommodation if it is requested. In these cases, we still try to find the most authentic and delightful accommodation for your Camino.

If you are looking for a higher level of accommodation we can also book you into Paradores and Pousadas if they are available along your planned route.

Accommodation Price

Everyone will have a slightly different budget and desired level of comfort. We work with a number of providers wherever possible to get you the nicest accommodation in your budget. During peak times prices will increase, so do bear this in mind when considering your budget.

Reviews and Feedback

We aim to exclusively offer our guests accommodation in establishments with higher than 8/10 on independent review platforms.

We take our client’s satisfaction very seriously. All through your planning and the Camino itself, your Camino Planner will support you. That means that our staff are the first to hear about new developments and feedback along the Way of Saint James.

We know very quickly if service levels have decreased, or if new facilities and services have been added and adjust our preferred providers accordingly. The Camino accommodation providers that we choose must have an excellent feedback record to continue to be used.

Our relationship with suppliers is such that 80% of our customers are confirmed accommodation in our first choice. However, if our first choice is not available, we will use another accommodation of the same standard and price.

We always aim to provide our customers with the best available accommodation on every stage of their Camino.
